This quote is befitting if I am to talk about the Plum under Wraps. It perfectly encapsulates the essence of this book and if it’s intent is still vague to you, let me take this opportunity to walk you around.

Plum Under Wraps by Akanksha Shrivastava is a medley of raw and delightful poems that come straight from the writer’s heart. Written in a clear and poetic language, each poem has something to offer its readers. Right from losing in love to finding oneself, the book meticulously explores the contours of a human heart. That was the connecting string for me — I found a few poems written for me as they speak what my heart contains.

The youthfulness of the author reflects in the way she expresses the ambiguity surrounding a young mind, that rashness clouding its rationale, and the vulnerability which is fresh and fragile. The poems do trace our failures in ‘Your set of mistakes’ and also describe the exultation of our hearts and fears. The rhythm is maintained properly so as to not let the poems deviate from their natural course. The author’s words motivate and push us to bring ourselves out of our closets.

I would also take a moment to appreciate the aesthetic cover of this book. I’d recommend this to everyone who’d love to read poetry, especially to the young generation.
